Malfunctions of coupling

As it was already mentioned, coupling can slip. Also coupling can pull. At pulling coupling the car moves breakthroughs, i.e. transfer of number of turns of the engine on driving wheels occurs non-uniformly. These malfunctions can have the various reasons.

The engine mount or transmissions is faulty or bolts of fastening are weakened. It means that the power unit at inclusion of coupling is subject to fluctuations.

The slip on a conducted disk scorched or hardened, i.e. there is no uniform friction between coupling and a flywheel. It can occur, for example, if to tow other car on big distance.

Press the disk was deformed because of a strong overheat, i.e. the frictional surface became rough.

In all cases coupling and a conducted disk should be removed to find a cause of defect.

If coupling failed in a way either does not join any more or is not switched off, it is possible to continue a trip at least to the next workshop or to a terminal point. It is possible even to switch transfers. If coupling failed, when the car goes and transfer is included, and transfer needs to be switched off, dump gas and switch the lever in neutral situation. If transfer jams, it is possible to add to a few gas while the lever of switching will not be released.

To get under way from a place without coupling, act as follows:


  1. Switch off the engine and include the first transfer.
  2. Include a starter. The car breakthroughs will move forward while the number of turns of the engine will not be leveled with a drive.
  3. If cold, it at first it is necessary to warm up the engine, that it did not decay at once. If to go on the equal street on the second transfer, it is possible to reach to the next workshop.
  4. If want to try to be switched to higher transfer, get under way from a place on the first transfer as it is described above and disperse the engine to 1000 rpm. Dump gas a little and switch the lever in neutral situation. Completely release a pedal of gas and press the lever in the provision of the second transfer. When equalizing number of turns of the engine and a transmission transfer will join. If time between inclusion is too great, it is necessary to add again to gas that transfer joined. Make switching on higher transfer only on low speed, include the second transfer at 20 km/h, a third at 25 km/h, the fourth at 35 km/h. Hardly business will reach the fifth transfer.
  5. When switching the number of turns should be increased by lower transfer, that it was possible to include the following transfer. Dump gas a little, switch off transfer and carefully press a gas pedal. During the same moment press the lever in the direction of the following lower transfer. At a right choice of number of turns transfer immediately will join. Also when switching on lower transfers speed of movement needs to be lowered to keep control of switching. At a gnash, the mechanism of switching should be checked anew. Thanks to synchronization, switchings are carried out easily.
