Adjustment of the moment of ignition

Though the moment of ignition is regulated automatically, it can be adjusted also manually. A preparatory work same as at idling adjustment for the corresponding engine. Ignition is regulated, when the engine idles. Various works are necessary for various engines.

Injector engines

The provision of separate elements of system of injection of fuel and ignition system in an impellent compartment of the car with the SR20DE engine

Before check and adjustment should be satisfied certain conditions to receive exact results, i.e. mentioned in Head the Current leaving and service of a detail or systems should be respectively checked and adjusted. The number of turns of idling should correspond to demanded value.

After warming up of the engine and connection of a tachometer and a stroboscope do the following works:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On the switched-off engine find the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve (see an illustration) and disconnect the tip. Start the engine.
  2. Two or three times increase number of turns to 2000-3000 rpm and then let's work within 2 minutes idling.
  3. Take readings of a tachometer. The engine should work with number of turns of 800 rpm.
  4. Take readings of the ignition moment in a stroboscope beam on a belt pulley of the crankshaft. If the moment of ignition lies out of limits 15±2 ° before VMT, adjustment is necessary. For this purpose weaken bolts of fastening of the distributor (see an illustration) and turn the distributor, the correct moment of ignition will not be received yet. At new adjustment always it is necessary to aspire to exact value 15 °. Again tighten bolts and check the ignition moment.
  5. In summary again connect the tip.

On cars without the catalyst adjustment of the moment of ignition is carried out in the same way. The Remenny pulley of the crankshaft has a notch on an edge to show adjustment of the moment of ignition outside. On a cover of a drive of cam-shafts the adjusting plate and each division is placed corresponds 5 °. On an illustration labels of the moment of ignition are represented.

Carburetor engine

On cars with carburetor engines of work differ depending on that, the catalyst is established or not.

With the catalyst

Before it will be possible to check the moment of ignition the Current leaving and condition service should be executed given in Head.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Warm up the engine, i.e. the arrow of the remote thermometer should stand on the average situation. At adjustment the engine should keep working temperature, i.e. in pauses the engine probably is required to be started anew to warm up it. The engine should work with number of turns less than 1000 rpm.
  2. Connect a tachometer and a stroboscope according to instructions.
  3. Disperse two-three times the engine to 2000-3000 rpm and then let's work within a minute idling.
  4. Take readings of number of turns of idling on a tachometer.
  5. The engine should work with number of turns 750±50 in rpm. If value does not correspond demanded, idling should be adjusted previously. Necessary works are described in Head the Current leaving and service.
  6. Take readings of the ignition moment in a beam of a lamp of a stroboscope on a belt pulley of the crankshaft. If the moment of ignition lies out of the limits specified in Specifications at the beginning of Head, adjustment should be made. On an illustration it is shown below, where it is possible to take readings of the ignition moment in a beam of a lamp of a stroboscope.

  1. At adjustment of the moment of ignition it should be regulated on different values. On the place represented on an illustration it is possible to see the established sensor for pressure of strengthening (on the right side of the car, facing an impellent compartment, near a suspension bracket of an amortization rack). This device traces depression in the inlet pipeline and sends an electric signal to an electronic monitor. As it is thus influenced the ignition moment, it should be switched off. For this purpose remove a vacuum hose and insert into its end a bolt of suitable diameter.

  1. Weaken bolts of fastening of the distributor and turn the distributor, while labels "0" and "5" will not stand approximately opposite to the index if to shine them with a stroboscope lamp. Again tighten bolts.
  2. Put on a hose and check ignition. This time value from Specifications at the beginning of Head should be observed. The provided data need to be studied thoroughly as there can be two various distributors of ignition and adjustment a little differ from each other.

Adjustment of the moment of ignition on cars without the catalyst is carried out in this way.

Without the catalyst

On the engine without the catalyst adjustment is slightly more difficult, as, depending on the established distributor, the vacuum hose should be or is disconnected from the carburetor and closed, or remains is connected. For a zatykaniye of a hose insert into its end a bolt of suitable diameter. More exact instructions are given in Specifications at the beginning of Head. According to them the moment of ignition has different values. Otherwise adjustment is carried out by the way described for katalizatorny models.
