Removal and installation

Place of fastening of a steering without the hydraulic booster

1 — the steering mechanism
2 — a bolt, 25-30 N • m
3 — the bottom hinge of a steering
4 — a rubber support

5 — an assembly collar
6 — a bolt, 73-97 N • m
7 — a koronchaty nut, 30-40 N • m
8 — шплинт, always to replace

On an illustration it is shown above, how the mechanical steering is established in the car. Removal and installation are carried out on the basis of this illustration:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift a forward part of the car and establish on support.
  2. Take out шплинты from koronchaty nuts of tips of steering drafts, weaken nuts and disconnect spherical hinges a special stripper, as is shown in an illustration. On an illustration the special stripper is represented, however for this work any stripper is suitable for spherical fingers.
  3. Weaken four bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism.
  4. Disconnect the bottom hinge from a steering gear wheel.
  5. Completely remove bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism take out the steering mechanism together with steering drafts sideways. Installation is carried out in return sequence, taking into account the next moments:
  6. Tighten bolts of the steering mechanism with effort of 73-97 N • m.
  7. Level uploshcheny gear wheels of the steering mechanism with a carving opening of a flange, as is shown in an illustration and carefully hammer tightening a bolt. Then tighten a nut with effort from 25 to 29 N • m.
Uploshcheniye (1) should be on one line with tightening shlitsy a shaft of a steering (2).
  1. At a tightening of nuts of tips of steering drafts tighten them with effort of 30-40 N • m, without paying attention to the provision of an opening under шплинт. Now check the provision of an opening and tighten a nut further that it was possible to insert шплинт. The moment of an inhaling should not exceed 50 N • m.

  1. Check, that spokes of a steering wheel were in the correct situation when wheels are on the average situation. Perhaps, that the gear wheel of the steering mechanism is wrapped on one turn further.

Steering repair

Dismantling of the steering mechanism is not recommended, as the gear lath and/or a case of a gear lath if there is an assumption should be in most cases replaced that the steering mechanism is broken. As both details are basic elements of the steering mechanism, establish the new steering mechanism better. Replace both helmsmen of draft are possible. For this purpose the steering mechanism should be removed. On an illustration lower details relating to it are represented.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Carefully clear the outer side of the steering mechanism and clamp the steering mechanism in a vice.
  2. Weaken lock-nuts of both steering drafts and unscrew tips of steering drafts.
  3. Pull together cuffs after easing by a fastening collar.
  4. Bring down a lock plate on a gear lath by means of a brass chisel, as is shown in an illustration.

  1. Holding a gear lath on inside a wrench, unscrew steering drafts. Unscrew steering drafts and remove washers. Lock washers should be replaced always.
  2. Carefully clear all details and replace worn-out details.
  3. Assembly is carried out in return sequence, however it is necessary to remember the next moments and adjustments:
  4. Impose on a gear lath a lock plate and screw in steering drafts. Tighten steering draft, holding a gear lath, with effort of 78-98 N • m. Bend a uvula of a lock plate on two surfaces of the hinge of steering drafts.
  5. Screw tips of steering drafts and temporarily tighten a lock-nut. The main length of steering drafts makes 183.6 mm and is measured between an external surface of a lock-nut and the cuff beginning. Will expose this length.
  6. Establish cuffs and establish the internal ends of cuffs again on a case of a gear lath.
  7. After installation of the steering mechanism it is necessary to adjust a convergence to expose the correct length of steering drafts and to adjust the average provision of a steering.
